Masks in Relationships – Are we living in illusions or being authentic and genuine?
We all wear masks, often as temporary tools to cope with challenges. However, some have made it a habit to live behind masks. Are we wearing a “happy” mask? Or do we prefer the “funny” mask? Or perhaps we adjust the “perfect girlfriend” or “understanding husband” mask every day?
Have we adopted a mask for our relationships that suits our preferences? Do we live behind the masks of our illusions, or dare to be honest, genuine, and our true selves? While wearing a mask may feel better temporarily, if the mask remains, the feeling grows that being ourselves is not worth it. The longer we wear a mask, the harder it becomes to exist without it, making it even more challenging to be vulnerable and build intimate, close relationships.
“The aim of the lecture is to challenge our well-fitting masks so we can embark on a journey toward authenticity, freedom, and deeper connections.”
