Please note that all visitors purchasing tickets to the exhibitions of the Göcseji Museum, the Mindszentyneum, and the Göcseji Open-Air Museum accept the present visitor regulations and any specific rules defined for individual programmes. By entering, visitors also acknowledge that they must comply with instructions, restrictions, and warnings issued by the institution’s staff and security service.
Please follow the rules below when visiting the Göcseji Museum and the Mindszentyneum.
General Visitor Regulations
What the admission ticket entitles you to
Visitors to the Göcseji Museum, the Mindszentyneum, and the Göcseji Open-Air Museum are entitled, with a valid ticket, to visit all indoor and outdoor exhibitions within the institution during opening hours, provided they fully comply with the rules below.
The admission ticket must be kept until the end of the visit and shown upon request. Invited guests of the institution may attend certain events free of charge.
At the Göcseji Open-Air Museum, entry into exhibited buildings is prohibited, except for the water mill.
Please do not touch exhibition objects, display cases, or installations unless this is explicitly permitted by the nature of a given exhibition.
Conditions for discounted and free admission
Discount or free admission cards (student ID, teacher ID, ICOM/ICOMOS cards, museum staff IDs, etc.) must be presented at the ticket office upon request.
Use of restrooms
Visitors with a valid ticket are entitled to use visitor restrooms free of charge.
Photo, audio and video recording
Exhibitions and programmes are visited at your own responsibility. By entering, visitors consent to being recorded (photo, audio, or video) by the Mindszentyneum or authorised partners, and agree that such material may be archived, stored, and used for promotional purposes on any platform without restriction.
Items prohibited in the building
- bicycles, scooters or any vehicle (except small foldable children’s scooters under 90 cm, which must be stored in the cloakroom),
- animals (except assistance dogs or leashed pets in the Open-Air Museum),
- sharp or dangerous objects,
- anything that may endanger artworks, visitors, or staff,
- umbrellas, raincoats, and large toys.
People not allowed to enter
People under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or wearing inappropriate clothing (e.g. barefoot or in swimwear), may not enter the building or outdoor events.
Behaviour rules
Any behaviour that endangers visitors, staff, property, or violates public order or decency is strictly prohibited.
Smoking is prohibited
Smoking and the use of electronic cigarettes or similar devices are strictly prohibited in and around the building. Flammable and explosive materials are also forbidden. Any damage caused by triggering the fire alarm due to non-compliance must be compensated by the responsible visitor.
Smoking is only allowed at designated areas at least 5 metres from the entrance.
Littering
Waste may only be disposed of in designated bins.
Protection of artworks
Artworks may be damaged even by touch. Please keep a distance of at least 30 cm and do not touch objects, including stone artefacts!
The premises are monitored by a security camera system in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
Cloakroom
The cloakroom is free of charge and mandatory in the following cases:
- bags, umbrellas, and items larger than 30 × 25 × 15 cm must be stored; backpacks may not be worn on the back inside the exhibition spaces,
- lockers are available free of charge but require a 100 HUF coin; lockers left closed after closing time will be opened and emptied by staff.
Items not allowed in exhibition spaces
Coats must be worn; carrying them over the arm or shoulder is not allowed.
Food, drinks, bottles, and toys are prohibited. Medical exceptions allow a single 0.5-litre non-carbonated water bottle carried in a bag, which may only be consumed outside exhibition areas.
Feeding animals
Feeding animals at the Göcseji Open-Air Museum is prohibited.
Mobile phones
Please keep mobile phones silent and avoid disturbing other visitors.
Photography and video
Photography is allowed with any valid ticket, without flash, tripod, or selfie stick. Images may only be used for personal purposes. Some temporary exhibitions may restrict photography.
Commercial photography requires prior permission and fees according to the Admission Tickets page.
Closing procedure
Visitors must leave exhibition areas 10 minutes before closing time. Ticket offices close 30 minutes before closing time.
Guided tours
Only trained museum guides may conduct tours, upon prior arrangement and for a fee.
Visiting with children
- Children under 2 years old may only enter in a stroller or front carrier,
- back-carrying children is not allowed,
- strollers must be pushed; folded carrying is not allowed,
- children under 14 may only enter with adult supervision,
- guardians are responsible for children’s behaviour and safety.
Please be considerate of other visitors and follow staff instructions.
Group and family visits
Only museum guides may conduct tours (except authorised external guides).
Group leaders and guardians are responsible for compliance with rules.
Right of withdrawal
If you do not agree with the visitor regulations, tickets may be refunded within 30 minutes of purchase upon presentation of the receipt at the ticket office before closing time.
Emergency situations
Visitors must follow staff instructions in case of emergencies (e.g. fire, natural disaster, bomb threat).
Consequences of violation
The institution reserves the right to deny entry or remove visitors who violate the rules. No refunds are issued in such cases. Visitors are responsible for any damages caused by rule violations.
