We visited the Keresztury Memorial House
We accepted the invitation of the Deák Ferenc County and City Library and visited the recently reopened Keresztury Memorial House. Retired library director Gábor Kiss shared numerous fascinating stories about the life of Dezső Keresztury, a writer, poet, and translator. We traveled back in time to the Great War, followed the literary historian’s studies in our imagination to Vienna and Berlin, and returned to Budapest, where Dezső Keresztury reached the peak of his professional career. The afternoon was enriched with both humorous anecdotes and thought-provoking stories shaped by history. Some artifacts in the recently renovated memorial house are from the collection of the Göcseji Museum, and our colleagues also contributed to the restoration of the impressive antique furniture and props.
The memorial house is open by prior appointment
The Keresztury Memorial House is a true gem of the city’s cultural heritage and well worth a visit to the Jánka Hill house. Visits are possible by prior appointment arranged through the library.
