In connection with the Memorial Day for the Victims of Communism, a commemoration was held on 27 February in Budapest at Józsefváros Mindszenty Square, under the title “The Truth of Love within the Walls of Dictatorship”.

The event was organised by the Mindszenty Foundation of Hungary, paying tribute to all those who suffered, were persecuted, or gave their lives for their faith and freedom during the communist dictatorship.

At the commemoration, Bishop Levente Balázs Martos celebrated Holy Mass, focusing on the strength of faith, hope and love—values that did not lose their sustaining power even within the walls of dictatorship.

Participants honoured the victims with a common prayer and a wreath-laying ceremony, emphasising that even the darkest periods of history pass, but human dignity, fidelity and the truth of love endure.

The Directorate of Zalaegerszeg Museums was represented at the event by General Director Bálint Havasi and Marketing Manager Tünde Szaknyéri, who joined the commemoration highlighting the importance of shared remembrance and historical responsibility.
