On September 11, 2025, the season-closing and future-shaping meeting of the Göcsej Dombérozó took place at the Zalaszentgyörgy Porta Folk House. We would like to express our gratitude to Dezső Kovács, who not only provided the venue but also enriched the event with his photographs.
A Milestone Ahead for the Dombérozó
The Göcsej Dombérozó has been continuously growing in recent years, and in 2026 it will celebrate its 10th anniversary. This is a milestone that brings both pride and new challenges for the organizers.
The strength of the community, however, is undeniable: everyone who takes part in the work does so wholeheartedly – as a true GÖCSEJ SZÍVEMBER. The staff of the Göcsej Open Air Museum are also among them: they contribute their knowledge with generosity and welcome visitors of the Dombérozó with hospitality.
Golden Göcsej at the Open Air Museum
The range of programs continues to expand, and the “Golden Göcsej” event series is currently underway, to which all interested visitors are warmly invited.
The organizers encourage guests to come and visit in person, but up-to-date news and information can also be found on online platforms.
Thanks to the Initiator
Special thanks go to Ágota Magai, the initiator of the event, who continues to lead the Dombérozó forward with her unwavering enthusiasm.
What does “Dombérozó” mean?
dombérozni: a local Göcsej dialect word meaning to gather, celebrate, and enjoy time together with music, dance, food, and community spirit.
dombérozás: refers to the celebration itself – a festival-like event that highlights hospitality, traditions, and communal joy.
Göcseji Dombérozó: The Göcsej Dombérozó is a large-scale, 10-day community cultural festival held in the Göcsej region of Hungary. It showcases local traditions, the beauty of the landscape, gastronomy, and handicrafts through a variety of programs, organized with the cooperation of several villages. The event recreates the atmosphere of old Göcsej in its natural and cultural setting, focusing on shared experiences and encounters between locals and visitors alike.
