Angel Shoebox for Christmas
As Christmas approaches, we can bring a little miracle into the lives of those in need. Fill a shoebox with love and small treasures to be part of the holiday magic!
Between November 7 and December 13, 2024, prepare an angel shoebox (a shoebox gift) for a child facing difficult circumstances!
In Zalaegerszeg, you can only drop off your shoebox, prepared for the National Gift Collection campaign of Catholic Caritas, at the Mindszentyneum. Your gift will surely bring a smile to a child’s heart this Christmas.
How to prepare your gift?
- Find an empty shoebox in good condition! Decide the age and gender of the child for whom you want to prepare the gift.
What to include in the box?
Anything that could bring joy to a child:
- Toys (board games, cards, building blocks, dolls, stuffed animals, cars, balls, other toys, etc.)
- Books, storybooks, coloring books
- Sweets (chocolate, biscuits, etc.)
- Toiletries (deodorant, nail polish, perfume)
- School supplies (notebooks, pens, markers, crayons, colored pencils, watercolors, paints, etc.)
- A postcard or message of well-wishes
What should not go in the box?
Perishable, fragile, or liquid items. Used clothing.
How to wrap the box?
Wrap the box nicely so it can be transported, but leave it easy to open. Do not tape it shut; just tie it with a ribbon. For security reasons, the boxes will be checked, and volunteers may add an extra item (e.g., candy, calendar, etc.). Write clearly on the box the age and gender of the intended recipient, e.g., “10-year-old boy” or “6-year-old girl.”
Can I donate gifts without putting them in a box?
Yes. If you don’t have a box, bring your gift in a bag to the collection point, and we will box it for you.
Are extra toys, sweets, and gifts that are not for a specific age group welcome?
Yes. If you’d like to donate additional treats or toys, please bring them to the collection point, and they will be used to make gift boxes for more children.
How to make an Angel Shoebox?
- Choose toys, books, sweets, toiletries, school supplies, or clothes
- Find a box and place the gifts inside
- Don’t forget to label the box with the intended age and gender
- Drop off your finished gift at the reception desk of the Mindszentyneum by December 13, 2024!
Please do not include used clothing, as well as perishable, liquid, or fragile items in the box.
You can drop off your parcels during opening hours, Tuesday to Sunday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
